Matthew Ryan – Concussion
10 track CD album. Matthew Ryan’s third album released in 2001.
Alt-country singer-songwriter Matthew Ryan (born Ryan Webb in Philadelphia) started playing guitar aged 17, inspired by a love of The Clash and The Replacements. Concussion was produced and recorded in seven days by Richard McLaurin in his home studio on Idaho Avenue just up the street from Matthew Ryan’s first house in Nashville, TN. Includes special guests Lucinda Williams (duets on the song ‘Devastation’), Clay Steakley, Craig Krampf and Mack Starks. Also includes a gritty American roots punk version of The Clash’s ‘Somebody Got Murdered’. His songs usually cover the topics of girls, socio-political issues and brotherhood. He collaborated with Neilson Hubbard to form the band Strays Don’t Sleep.
