Joe Pernice began his career in the 1990s with Scud Mountain Boys in his home state of Massachusetts. They released two records before signing to Sub Pop through which they released two further albums. In 1997 they split and Pernice formed the Pernice Brothers. He released his first solo album Big Tobacco in 2000 on his own label, Ashmont. His first novel It Feels So Good When I Stop was released in 2009, along with an accompanying soundtrack CD. He has also written a poetry book Two Blind Pigeons, a novella for the Continuum Books’ 33 1/3 series and is working on a new Pernice Brothers album for 2011.
