HK119 – HK119
17 track CD album.
HK119, aka Heidi Kilpelainen, is a multimedia artist who incorporates performance, dance, art, stage design, video and music into her work. Heidi was famously selected by Björk in Q Magazine as her favourite artist of 2005 and signed to One Little Indian soon after.
A graduate of Central St Martins MA program in Fine Art, Heidi Kilpeläinen created HK119 out of science fiction references and a fictitious barcode number. Critiquing mass consumerism and the theories of humanity’s relationship with socialism, capitalism, technology and celebrity culture. She is renowned for her live shows which have drawn comparisons to the likes of Grace Jones, David Bowie, Nina Hagen and Iggy Pop.
In 2006, HK119 released her eponymous debut album on One Little Indian – a lo-fi, electronic collection of songs produced for her degree. This was followed in 2009 by second album Fast, Cheap And Out Of Control in which the artist further evolved her idiosyncratic musical and visual style.
HK119’s third album Imaginature was released in 2013. Taking inspiration from the power and mystery of nature, Heidi fully immersed herself in the world of the music, creating a unique multimedia experience for her fans.
